If your area offers a recycling option for CFL bulbs you should always use it. You can go to your state website to find a location. Most Home Depot stores will also accept used CFL bulbs.
For those of you that live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area you can click here to find another location or schedule a pick-up at your home.
If your area allows you to put used CFL bulbs in the trash, you should put it inside two plastic bags and put it out for normal trash pickup.
CFL bulbs should never be incinerated.
