You’re correct, CFL bulbs do contain mercury, but it’s a very small amount. Also, you’re only exposed to the mercury if you break a bulb.

If you’ve broken a bulb in the past and didn’t clean it up, researchers from Berkeley say it’s about the same amount of mercury as if you ate a can of tuna. You just don’t want to make a habit of failing to clean up broken CFL bulbs because mercury exposure can add up.
